UIC SWISS RULES
UIC SWISS is a
UIC sanctioned competition and all general UIC rules will apply except for
the following exceptions and reminders
You
must have a minimum of 20 games played in the league you wish to represent
REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE TO GO TO THE TOURNAMENT HEADQUARTERS TABLE TO ASK FOR ANY REQUESTS FOR TIMERS AND WITHDRAWALS - IF YOU ASK IN LOBBY YOU WILL BE IGNORED!!!
Make sure that you read and understand these rules – ignorance is no excuse!
These rules are additional to, and to be read in conjunction with, the UIC General Rules and the rules as laid down by the Administrators of the Case’s ladder system.
The Administrators of the UIC and UIC SWISS reserve the right to modify these rules from time to time as new situations arise.
Every effort will be made to inform all UIC members of any and all such rule changes.
If you cannot, or if you refuse to, abide by these rules then the UIC is NOT the place for you and it is strongly suggested that you move on.
MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT RE CAMTASIA.
Common sense tells us that to use Camtasia in a 5 round True Swiss tourney is going to cause unacceptable delays in the tournament moving to the next round and is sure to result in a lot of agitation and players withdrawing.
( It is bad enough as it is with a long drawn out game causing 'wait time')
Therefore Camtasia should not be used in the preliminary rounds and may be refused by any player.
This is not to say that it cant be used if the opposing players agree.
However, if it is agreed then tapes can be sent on completion of the game but will not have the effect of holding up the tourney.
THE TOURNEY WILL MOVE ON REGARDLESS.
Should a technical problem be discovered when the tape is viewed that would warrant a disqualification then the offending tape will be the cause of loss of ALL points in that particular tourney for the individual concerned.
Compensation should be given to the subsequent 'loser/winner' of that game in the order of 2 points.
There is no problem if Camtasia is used for a final game in a tourney ie. round 5
1 There is no need for activity in your home league to play in UIC SWISS
2 In UIC SWISS players MUST report their losses
immediately they occur in any UIC SWISS tournament.
3. You are only permitted to play in 1 Tourney on any given day.
4. A maximum of 5 players per league will be permitted in any Tourney.
5 Only the top 2 point earners in any team, in any tourney, will have their points counted towards team total.
6. You are only allowed ONE account with UIC SWISS. If more then one account is detected it may result in ALL accounts being deleted and that includes all match histories.
Additionally your Team may possibly forfeit all points gained up to and including the time of the offence.
7. It is your responsibility to make sure you have a valid Email address; if not then you wont receive any newsletter information we send out and that could possibly work against you.
If one is found to be invalid it may result in your name being removed from UIC SWISS.
Updating this can be done under User Editor on the main page.
8. Safety shots (snookers) are legal in
UIC SWISS
9. Any league may participate in UIC SWISS
10. TIMERS: = 7 minutes.
11. If Yahoo boots a player from a table while they are actually playing in a
game there is every chance that Yahoo will give the opponent a win on
forfeit - We, in UIC
SWISS, will not have that affect the game or match and it is
to be replayed !!!! Having said that, if a player that looks like they are
going to be defeated and suddenly forfeits, then we will go with that as an
intentional force forfeit and a penalty will be given.
12. Coaching IS permitted in UIC SWISS.
13. Accusations, veiled comments or even joking about AA will first be largely ignored.
Do it once or even twice then it doesn't matter.
It's not UIC SWISS's problem if you wish to make an idiot of yourself and earn nothing but disrespect from your peers
However if there is continued harassment about it in the UIC SWISS lobby, on tables or in the 'accused' home room (and there will be no warning about this) or on Instant messengers -- Then banishment from UIC and UIC SWISS awaits any offenders and it is MOST DEFINITELY ENFORCED.
Don't let this happen to you as it only serves to disadvantage your league.
14. You must NOT be seated at any training table whilst actually playing any UIC game. This is considered to be cheating and any player found seated at a training table whilst playing in a game will be disqualified and also be boxed for a period not less than 42 days
15 Additional rule added 30th Jan 09
Should any circumstance arise whereby a tournament cannot be completed due to outside influences such as servers crashing then standings will be calculated from the last known point where they went down.
All points to that stage will be given as normal. ie: if there is a clear leader that player will be allocated the bonus points and if there are current ties then same will apply to them.

MAKING SURE PLAYERS ARE QUALIFIED
[1] To represent a league in play, like regular UIC, it is necessary to have played at least 20 games on their league's ladder.
[2] Players below 1200 rating are not eligible to play. Boosted ID's will be allowed.
[3] No player can play for more than 1 league. Once you have played in UIC for 1 league, you can not play for another league in the same season without proper approval from an Admin.
[4] If you change leagues after you have actually played for a league in any current season your individual points will reset to zero.
[5] When signing up to the UIC SWISS ladder, add your league initials and underscore to the front of your name. (ex: maryjane247 from straightshots (ss) would register to UIC SWISS as ss_maryjane247) - if you are unsure of your league initials contact an admin for clarification.
Yahoo ID, your home league ID, and UIC name (after initials) must all match exactly. (No Exceptions unless it's an SBC name as is stated in UIC general Rules)
* UIC SWISS Reserves the right to remove any players from the ladder who have improper or no league initials before their name. *
PLAYERS WHO WISH TO SWITCH TEAMS
[6]Once a UIC SWISS Season begins, it is illegal for a player to switch leagues whenever they feel like it.
In order to change league representation in UIC, the player must first get permission from the UIC Head Administrator or UIC Co-Head Administrator.
If the switch is approved, then and only then can the player change his representation initials on the UIC SWISS ladder.
Players who switch representation without permission, will have their league initials changed back with penalty to follow.
UIC SWISS Admins keep a daily track of all secured information on every player who withdraws therefore players who try to withdraw from the UIC SWISS then sign back up with a new league will be caught.
In between UIC SWISS Seasons, there will be a period where players can change league representation freely.
[6] In an attempt to foster league loyalty any player that switches leagues will have their individual stats deleted.
[7] Spamming, scrolling, swearing and using caps are NOT allowed during a UIC SWISS match.
[8] If any players have been proven to be cheating all points they have gained for their team will be deducted from the team total.
UIC reserves the right to add to or modify these rules at any time should the occasion arise.
